On December 11, 2023, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II visited His Excellency Mr. Yamen Madi, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Syria to Stockholm, at the Residence of the Syrian Embassy in Stockholm.
His Holiness was accompanied by their Eminences Archbishops: Mor Dioscoros Benjamin Atas, Patriarchal Vicar in Sweden, Mor Youhanon Lahdo, Archbishop of Sweden and Scandinavia, Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Archbishop of Homs, Hama, Tartous and Environs, Mor Boutros Kassis, Archbishop of Aleppo and Environs, Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Assistant, and Mor Augeen Al-Khoury Nemat, Patriarchal Secretary.
His Excellency welcomed His Holiness and the accompanying delegation. He appreciated the role of His Holiness in promoting peace and justice. He spoke about the role of His Holiness in bringing to the international fora the voice of the Syrian people suffering from the sanctions and other international decisions.
In turn, His Holiness thanked His Excellency for his warm welcome and spoke about the current situation in Syria depicting the crises that are affecting the lives of the people.
His Excellency also held a reception in honor of His Holiness attended by several ambassadors and heads of mission.
