Our members leaving for the Guatemala Medical Mission

Publish Date
A team of 7 members will be leading a 4-day medical mission trip to Guatemala in mid-November.  They will be serving sister churches in Comalapa City, Guatemala, under the diocese of Central America of the Syriac Orthodox Church.  75% of the people in Guatemala live in poverty, especially in farming areas, with high illiteracy rate. Average length of time in school in Guatemala is 3.5 years.

Last year, three teams from our diocese set up medical camps in three different locations in Guatemala, serving around 500 people. This year, the medical mission team will be serving the local church in Comalapa, with membership of around 10,000 people. Majority of their members are laborers in farming and agriculture, who do not have access to medical care.
