Feast of Mor Aphrem and Ordination of Subdeacons and Readers

On March 12, 2022, on the occasion of the Feast of Mor Aphrem and Mor Theodoros, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo at Mor Aphrem Church in Mor Aphrem Monastery in Maarat Saydnaya.Their Eminences Archbishops: Mor Yacoub Babawi, Patriarchal Vicar for the Affairs of Monks and the Administration of Mor Aphrem Theological Seminary, Mor Anthimos Jack Yakoub, Patriarchal Vicar for Youth Affairs and Christian Education, and Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director, assisted His Holiness in the Holy Qurobo.In his sermon, his Holiness spoke about Saint Aphrem the Syrian and reminded the faithful of the main historical events that affected his ministry. He pointed out that the saint was distinguished by his faith and expressed it with his poems which taught many generations the true faith and the doctrines of Christianity. He used to offer services to the sick and the poor. His Holiness encouraged the faithful to follow the example of Mor Aphrem and thus become light spreading the faith of the church by word and deed to those whom we encounter.During the Qurobo, His Holiness ordained ten subdeacons: Musa Eshak, Limor Philo, Bashar Hanna, Maher Shekro, Simon Jabro, Sadeer Eskandar, Yousef Bano, Amjad Hazem, Naser Quba, and Hadi Jabour. He also ordained four readers: Toni Houshan, Antoun Al-Khoury, Aphrem Al-Khoury and Carlos Shami, and two mzamrone: Issa Mardini and Elia Mardini.At the end of the Qurobo, His Holiness congratulated the newly ordained subdeacons, readers and chanters, wishing them a blessed service for the glory of God and the growth of His Holy Church.
