His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II meets the faithful of St. Mary Church in Dandenong – Melbourne.
Their Eminences Mor Malatius Malki Malki, Patriarchal Vicar in Australia & New Zealand and Mor Nicodemus Daoud Sharaf, Archbishop of Mosul, Kirkuk, Kurdistan and Environs, also attended the meeting.
After the meeting, His Holiness blessed the Foundation Stone for the new building of St. Mary Church in Dandenong.

His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II presided over the thanksgiving prayer at St. Georges the Martyr Church in Dandenong – Melbourne.
Their Eminences Mor Meletius Youhanon, Patriarchal Vicar in Australia and New Zealand for the faithful of our Church from Malankara, Mor Malatius Malki Malki, Patriarchal Vicar in Australia & New Zealand, and Mor Nicodemus Daoud Sharaf, Metropolitan of Mosul, Kurdistan and their Environs, as well as priests and a crowd of faithful attended the prayer.
His Holiness prayed the service of the saints at the monument raised in the memory of Saint Mor Baselius Yeldho. Afterwards, he blessed the foundation stones of 5 new churches which will be built in Melbourne.
Members of the Parliament of Melbourne were also present at the function and they thanked His Holiness for blessing the community.
In his spiritual word, His Holiness spoke about the faithful as living stones with whom the church is built.

His Holiness expressed his great joy to be among his spiritual children, who live in a geographically far country from the patriarchate headquarter, yet are always in the heart and thoughts of their spiritual father; They are the little flock, and it is their Holy Father’s good pleasure to give them the kingdom.

His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II met the faithful of St. Thomas Church in Melbourne at the reception organized by the Church Committee.

After a thanksgiving payer at Mor Yacoub Burdono Church, His Holiness was received by the Church Choir. His Holiness blessed the community by lighting the lamp and blessing the memorial stone of the new church building.

The children from Sunday school performed in a short theatrical play. His Holiness blessed the faithful and spoke about the relations that bond them to the church, mentioning the firm faith of the forefathers who remained attached to the church despite all persecutions.

Upon his arrival, His Holiness was greeted by the Syriac Scouts and the church choir performed Syriac and Arabic hymns and songs.
In his speech, His Holiness reminded the faithful of the many sacrifices that our forefathers made preserving the faith of our church. He also spoke about the importance of remaining attached to the homeland where the blood of the martyrs of our church has been shed.
At the end of the visit, His Holiness blessed the faithful.

In his speech, His Holiness encouraged the faithful to remain attached to their orthodox faith and the traditions of the Syriac Orthodox Church. He also stressed the importance of working together to preserve the Syriac language and heritage.
The Choir of Mor Aphrem Choir also gave a performance of Syriac hymns and songs.

He was assisted by their Eminences Mor Malatius Malki Malki, Patriarchal Vicar in Australia & New Zealand, and Mor Nicodemus Daoud Sharaf, Metropolitan of Mosul, Kurdistan and their Environs, in the presence of the clergy and a crowd of faithful.
In his Sermon, His Holiness expressed his gladness to be among his spiritual children; he then spoke about the consecration of the Holy Church.

After the prayer, His Holiness and their Eminences attended a reception made on the occasion of His Holiness First Apostolic Visit to Australia.

During the reception, the choir of children chanted Syriac Chants. His Holiness then distributed for the children certificates of participation.
