Holy Qurobo – New Year’s Eve

On December 31, 2020, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo on the occasion of the New Year at St. Jacob Baradeus in Jaramana – Damascus.
‏Their Eminences Archbishops: Mor Anthimos Jack Yacoub, Patriarchal Vicar for Youth Affairs and Christian Education, and Mor Boutros Kassis, Patriarchal Assistant and Patriarchal Delegate of the Archdiocese of Aleppo and Environs, assisted His Holiness in the Holy Qurobo.
In his sermon, His Holiness spoke about the Lord Jesus Who perfected the law. He explained that the Church celebrates at the beginning of each year the commemoration of the Fathers of the Church, particularly St Basilius and St Gregorius who wrote many books and epistles explaining the Holy Bible by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. He reminded the faithful that the beginning of the year is an opportunity to renew our spiritual lives by self-examination, repentance and return to God. He emphasized that what distinguishes the spiritual life is when faith is manifest in the deeds of charity. He invited them to live the virtues that the Church teaches and to hold firm to the faith which leads to salvation.
‏At the end of the Qurobo, His Holiness blessed the faithful and wished them a Happy and blessed New Year.
